AMP Wire Pins from TE Connectivity: Reliable Solutions for Wire Connections
AMP wire pins, also known as crimp sleeves or electrical ferrules, are essential components in electrical connections. These soft metal tubes are crimped onto the end of a stripped wire, protecting the individual strands from fraying and ensuring a solid connection in terminal blocks.
Most wire end sleeves are made from high-quality copper and are often coated with a tin layer for improved corrosion resistance. The dimensions of the ferrules, such as diameter and length, are carefully matched to the specific wire gauge, ensuring optimal performance.
Color-Coded Insulation and Ease of Installation
An important feature of AMP wire pins is the color coding, which allows for easy identification of the wire gauge. At one end of the electrical ferrule is an enlargement that collects and bundles individual wire strands as they are inserted into the ferrule. This enlargement is often covered with a conical plastic cable entry sleeve, creating a neat transition between wire insulation and ferrule.
Unlike traditional crimp connections, this plastic sleeve is not pressed during installation, ensuring the integrity of the insulation. With AMP wire pins, you can be assured of durable and reliable wire connections for various applications.
